Be willing to step outside your comfort zone once in a while; take the risks in life that seem worth taking. The ride might not be as predictable if you’d just planted your feet and stayed put, but it will be a heck of a lot more interesting.
Edward Whitacre, Jr.
So many things have happened recently that have made my life very interesting. So this blog is about the “interesting times” that I have experienced and at times endured.
What have I always believed? That on the whole, and by and large, if a man lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out all right.” ― Terry Pratchett, Small Gods
I have been chastised for not providing the story behind the Mormons marching photo… my apologies! There wasn’t much to what I saw, I was sitting at a café called Balmaya. And then there was a marching band playing, followed by a procession of people marching along behind them. And as quickly as they were there they were gone down a side street where they disappeared. If kresman tek yu klos, yu no fo ron afta – ram yu neked wan. If yu du am, den go tek una tu as kresman den. If a madman takes your clothes you shouldn’t run after him naked. If you do, people will think that both of you are crazy.
One should absorb the colour of life, but one should never remember its details. Details are always vulgar.
So it has been an interesting period since I last posted a blog! Apologies for not putting another blog one up earlier. I had some technical issues with my laptop! But not to worry everything is more or less working now.
So since I last wrote the New Year has come, so firstly, here is to 2017! I wish I could write something about the amazing, crazy and mind blowing night that I had bringing in the 2017. However, I went to bed… After spending Christmas with 200 children I got sick with a nasty chest infection and so the new year was brought in with more of a whimper than a bang. That being said, I actually started getting a lot better on the first day of the new year, so I am hoping that is an auspicious sign for the 2017. Continue reading Living in Freetown
I have meant to create a proper blog since I went and lived in the Solomon Islands last year. However, one of the many things I was completely unprepared over there was how truly bad the internet would turn out to be. Having grown up on a farm in north east Victoria with dial up internet in the 90’s should have helped me. It didn’t.
The blog will be about my three great loves food, my past and future travel, and law and politics. It may include ramblings about my life and what I’m doing that I feel I want to write about. I feel like this is a good way to let my friends and family know what I’m doing wherever I am in the world. To begin with I’ll be putting up a variety of posts, including some old ones from the Solomon Islands where I wrote for Pineapple Post (https://pineapplepost.wordpress.com/) a great website about the Solomons (run by a lovely lady and friend of mine). A few about my recent trip to Switzerland, my work in the Solomon’s and what life is like there.
I hope you enjoy it. I would love feedback and comments if anyone has any!
